While flying is often the fastest way to get somewhere, especially overseas, there is always the possibility that you could have a layover. Some may take a few hours while others stretch into a full day. No matter the length of your layover though, here are some things you can do to help you get through it.
Find Information
Although you already know you have a layover, you should check to see if anything has changed concerning your upcoming flight. Know where your gate will be located so you’ll know where to go when the time comes. Find a terminal map to see where you can go and what there is to do. Most importantly though, don’t be afraid to ask for help and directions on how to get around.
Get Food
Depending on your layover time, you should consider finding something to eat. Some don’t like to eat heavy before flying, but it is good to have a little something in your stomach to ensure your body won’t feel sick. Most airports will have various snack shops, fast food chains, or sit-down restaurants that you can enjoy.
Keep Moving
Long flights mean you will be sitting down for long periods of time. Use the most of your time in a layover to walk around, stretch your legs, and maybe even do a few exercises. Some airports even have fitness centers for travelers to use, so you could consider taking advantage of using the gym.
Stay Busy
Sometimes the hardest part of a layover is passing the time. The best way to get through it is to keep yourself busy and occupied. For those who have phones, laptops, and other electronics to use, various tablet charging carts can be found throughout airports which means you don’t have to worry about draining your battery.
Although layovers are not always easy to handle, they don’t have to be boring. Having things to do throughout them can really help them seem shorter then they are.
